Academy Etiquette
- Be on time.
- Keep a respectful posture in the training area.
- Bow when entering and exiting the mat.
- Always greet your instructor and training partners before class.
- Classes begin with students lining up by rank. If you are not sure of your place in line, just follow the higher ranking students.
- Classes end with a formal bow to the instructor and then to the picture of Grandmaster Helio Gracie.
- If you are late for class, stand next to the mat and wait for permission from the Professor. Always greet the Professor when entering the mat.
- If you need to leave the mat or leave early, you must ask permission to the Professor.
- Talking should be kept minimal and relate to the class subject.
- During class, when the instructor is demonstrating a technique, every student must sit or stand in good posture.
- Bow to your partner before and after each round.
- No foul language in the school.
- The belt reprsents your progress, so keep it on and properly tied at all times.
- Do not leave your belongings at the school, that includes your uniform, clothes, water bottles, etc.
- Keep fingernails and toe nails short for everyone’s safety.
- Do not train if you are ill. Take the time to rest.
- Cover up any cuts and do not train with any rash or skin infection.
- All students, instructors, professors and visitors must wear matching color gi tops and pants with Gamlbers Patch. Official Gamblers Gi is preferred.
- It is mandatory to wear a rash guard underneath the gi.
- It is mandatory to have underwear under neath the gi pants or shorts.
- The uniform must be worn and be clean at all times. A dirty uniform is a sign of disrespect.
- Gamblers rash guard is mandatory for No-Gi classes. Including visitors.
- All jewelry must be removed and kept in locker room.
- No shoes, food, drinks or cell phones allowed on the mats.
- Everyone must wear shoes when walking outside of the training area, especially in the bathroom.
- It is impolite to ask a higher ranked student to train. Wait your turn and choose your training partner.
- Remember when you are outside of the academy, you are representing Gamblers Jiu-Jitsu and it’s good name. Be an example.
- Have fun, and always be positive! The vibe is contagious.
